Budget 2020: Road and rail investment good news for industry

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, will invest billions on infrastructure improvements across the UK. The Chancellor has promised to invest billions of pounds on developments in the United Kingdom. Logistics businesses rely on secure, effective and well-maintained road networks to keep products moving across the UK.

The budget has set out and will see the implementation of much needed funding across the country in this sector.

188,000 tonnes of critical supplies, food, fuel and medicine are moved via rail between London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow. That is roughly 1.13 million tones being moved across the UK every week. With the majority of it being transported on the West Coast main line, one of the busiest mixed-use (freight and passenger) railways in Europe.
